In Kenya, vaccines to treat the two main causes of infant pneumonia will halve the incidence of severe pneumonia and save lives. Hib vaccine was introduced in 2002 and immunization with the second, pneumococcal vaccine, will begin in 2010. Will these interventions reduce the need for antibiotics?
